Heresy in the Vatican?

There is no doubt that King Charles’s visit to the Vatican is a historic and symbolically important event. He becomes the first British monarch since King Henry VIII to publicly pray with a Catholic Pope, Pope Leo. There were reasons why his predecessors chose not to do this, but King Charles thinks he knows better. His visit is a significant step in strengthening ecumenical relations between the Church of England and the Roman Catholic Church.

The King’s role as Supreme Governor of the Church of England makes this visit important after centuries of religious separation. However when you consider that the Church of England has just appointed a *female* feminist Archbishop of Canterbury and is continually appeasing modernity, is this visit to Rome just another heretical step from an apostate church? And why exactly is ecumenical unity desirable? Isn’t this a betrayal of the Protestant Reformation by this gutless King? Why did every other British Monarch stay away?

I do understand that Christians face persecution and the dark shadow of Islam hangs over us. We do need spiritual strength. But I have little confidence in either King Charles or Pope Leo. Both men seem to share a desire to genuflect to Islam and I don’t think much good will come from this.
