EU or not EU, THAT is the Question

In 2016, the majority of the British people voted to LEAVE the European Union. We wanted out of it and I was proud to be amongst them. It was a seminal moment in our national history because the political and media establishment utterly opposed us leaving and so it was an act of rebellion. The majority of the political class at Westminster opposed it with Labour being comprehensively in favour of us remaining.

Areas like Makersfield voted in favour of us leaving the EU with the best estimate giving a 65% weighting in favour of leaving. Now let’s listen to Andy Burnham discussing his vision on this issue last year.

Pretty clear? Of course this is now an awkward issue for him. Little Wes Streeting has further muddied the pitch when he said this the other day.

Some insiders believe that in committing himself to a return to the EU, Streeting was planting a land mine for Burnham to step on. We all KNOW that there is no philosophical difference between the two of them on the rejoin the EU issue but Burnham is the guy seeking election in a constituency which does not want to rejoin the EU. So, it’s complicated.

Laughable, Burnham has come out with some word salad and has said that he would be contesting the expected 18 June vote in Makerfield on local issues rather than a “national manifesto.”

Pure Snake Oil.

He doesn’t want to talk about something that he passionately believes in because he knows it is not what many voters want to hear. If he gets elected, things will change and he can then do the bidding of his Euro-masters.

Say what you want about Streeting (and there is plenty to say!) but at least he is open in his contempt for the British electorate. Burnham is more devious, presenting himself as “Northern Andy” with his Hovis bread ad accent and only interested in local northern things. If Makerfield voters fall for him, we will all suffer.

Undoing Brexit is a key objective of the Fabian movement to which Burnham belongs. If he gains power, he will it to achieve this end.
