Even the pro-Kamala Harris cheerleaders in the BBC see the writing on the wall. It is becoming clear to them that the race has tightened and that momentum is now all in the Trump camp and in particular in all those battleground swing States.
BBC US Correspondent Sarah Smith opines;
“But Harris’s criticism of Trump, her Republican opponent, has become much darker in the last few days. At the convention, she laughed at Trump, dismissing him as an “unserious man” and “weird”. Now she is calling him a “fascist” and “increasingly unhinged and unstable”.
Orange Man Bad. We have been here before and it didn’t work. This feels like 2016 all over again. Maybe the Dems should have stuck with demented Joe Biden? Anyway…
Her original message of wanting to bring “joy” has turned to one of fear – warning of what she says are the dangerous consequences of a second Trump term.
Polling suggests Harris is likely to win the popular vote. But that won’t be enough. She has to win key battleground states to win in the electoral college.
But in recent weeks as I’ve travelled through most of those states, the reservations many voters still have about Harris – a woman they feel they still don’t know enough about – have been clear.
When the BBC begin to acknowledge all this, you can smell the panic in the air.
That brings me to the point of this post – what happens should Harris lose?
Will we see an acceptance of this, will we see the Democrats peacefully going along with the transfer of power? Or, and this is just a wild guess, will we see what Alex Newman and others call “a Polycrisis”? This could mean a planned demolition in the money markets; it could mean street violence; it could mean an outbreak of more war overseas. Might it even mean an assassination? Let’s face it, the Deep State fears a Trump/Vance Presidency and therefore will do anything to stop it and subvert it.
The next few months are going to be wild!
