I see that Sir Stephen Fry has said JK Rowling has been “radicalised by TERFs” as he hit out at the Harry Potter author’s “cruel” comments about transgender people.
The TV presenter and comic described the bestselling writer, whose net worth reportedly stands at £945 million, as a “lost cause” because of her views.
Fry was paid a tidy sum, one presumes, for narrating the audiobooks for the whole Harry Potter series. Loyalty is limited in showbiz.
Fry went on a podcast last week to say that though that he previously enjoyed Rowling’s company her gender critical views had “completely altered the way she talks and engages with the world now”.
“She has been radicalised I fear and it may be she has been radicalised by TERFs*, but also by the vitriol that is thrown at her.“It is unhelpful and only hardens her and will only continue to harden her I am afraid. I am not saying that she not be called out when she says things that are really cruel, wrong and mocking. She seems to be a lost cause for us.”
(*Terf stands for trans-exclusionary radical feminist and is used as an insult by pro-trans activists)
I think Stephen Fry may suffer from memory loss because it was back in 2022 that he declared to the world that he wouldn’t condemn JK Rowling for her views on transgender people, despite them making his friends “deeply upset”.
Has he many transgender friends?
We know that Sir Stephen (67 years) is married to Elliot Spencer (38) and is a prominent LGBTQ+ activist. Here he is with his husband.
I really do wonder about pompous windbags like Fry. He is plainly a clever man but is he a smart man? Is he so blinded by gender ideology that he actually thinks a man can become a women? Does he think that biological men should have access to women’s spaces with impunity?
It seems to me that J.K. Rowling is imminently sensible an anchored in reality. Fry, by contrast, is an entitled clown who shows no respect for biological women.
