The EU to penalise Free Speech

Speaking at the Munich Security Conference a few months ago, US V-P JD Vance expressed his concern that Free Speech was dying in Europe. Naturally this was dismissed as hyperbole by the cucked EU media but he was quite right!

The European Commission has just issued a stern warning to Ireland, giving the country a two-month deadline to implement so-called “hate speech laws” or face potential legal action in the Court of Justice of the European Union. This development underscores the EU’s ongoing efforts to clamp down on freedom of speech across member states. The Commission alleges that Ireland has been “failing” to comply with EU laws specifically regarding the criminalisation of race-based violence and “hatred” This ultimatum also extends to Finland, signalling a broader push for stricter enforcement of anti-hate legislation within the EU.

Under the 2008 EU framework on “combating racism and xenophobia”, member states are required to criminalise public incitement to violence or hatred based on race, colour, religion, descent, or national or ethnic origin. The framework also mandates penalties for the denial, trivialisation, or condoning of international crimes and the Holocaust.

The European Commission’s infringement package highlights Ireland’s alleged shortcomings in implementing these laws effectively. Specifically, the Commission has called for Ireland to introduce legislation targeting “racially charged hate speech” and to strengthen measures against Holocaust denial and the trivialisation of international crimes.

Ireland’s existing legal framework includes the Prohibition of Incitement to Hatred Act 1989, which criminalizes actions intended to stir up hatred against groups based on race, religion, or other protected characteristics. However, the law’s enforcement has been limited. According to the Irish Courts Service, only five people were convicted under this act in 2017. The European Commission argues that this framework is insufficient to meet EU standards, prompting the demand for more robust laws.

The Irish government has repeatedly acknowledged the need to address hatred and hate speech, often pointing to the 1989 Act as evidence of its commitment. However, the Commission’s warning indicates that these efforts are deemed inadequate. The alleged rise of online hate speech (free speech) has intensified the EU’s scrutiny. Ireland’s failure to update its laws reflects a broader tension between national sovereignty and EU mandates, a recurring theme in EU-member state relations.

If Ireland does not do as it is told, the consequences could be significant. The Irish political class are world class Europhiles who will relish the chance to use this threat to further target anyone who dissents against the ongoing mass migration that is changing the face of Ireland and will make the Irish a minority in Ireland in a generation. The EU and the Irish will collude to wipe out the freedom to challenge their open borders pro migration pro Islam agenda!
