The thing about the Conservatives is that they are cowards and I will demonstrate this over the issue of the wearing of the burqa.
Conservative leader Kemi Badenoch has revealed that she refuses to meet or speak to constituents who cover their faces as she backed allowing bosses to ban female staff from wearing burkas. She said that she had a rule at her surgeries in her North West Essex constituency that ‘you have to remove your face covering, whether it’s a burka or a balaclava’.
Question – how many people visit her wearing balaclavas? Why seek to pretend that this is about anything other than the wearing of the burqa?
She has backed allowing office managers to bar staff from wearing the traditional Islamic robe for women, which has only a transparent veil allowing them to see.
What about banning customers from wearing it?
Silence and the reason for that becomes clear.
However she stepped back from the idea of a nationwide ban on the garment, saying there were bigger issues when it came to integration.
She is a coward. Like the rest of the milquetoast conservatives, she knows that this Islamic garb is unacceptable in the public realm but she won’t go the extra mile and say it.
This is why those like Reform MP Sarah Pochin who unambiguously call for a total ban on the burqa connect to the broader non Islamic British public!
We want to see it removed from the public square, no ifs or buts.
