It is being reported that the following CONSERVATIVE controlled County Councils are likely to request the suspension of the local elections planned for May 2025.
-
Norfolk.
-
Suffolk.
-
Devon.
-
Essex.
-
Lincolnshire.
This is in synch with what the Labour Government wants to see happen and it looks like there is a form of cross party unity in cancelling Elections.
Of course there is a very good reason why both Labour and Conservative would like to postpone these planned elections.
Consider this recent Council result.
As you can see, Reform won, Labour vote collapsed and the Conservative vote eviscerated. Now multiply this across the length and breadth of England next May and you see why all of a sudden the blue and red part of the Uniparty suddenly see cancelling elections as a good thing. They fear that next May could see Reform smash their cosy hegemony and that would trigger real fear at Parliamentary Constituency level. So best to nip the impertinence of the electorate in the bud. t would be an outrage if both large parties collude to stop people voting next year but I fear this may well be what happens.
