“Diversity is our strength” – it’s a mantra that you hear all the time not least from London Mayor Sadiq Khan but the evidence suggests that the opposite is true and a great example of this is to take a few moments and look at London in 2023.
At this point, London is now a white-minority City and it includes Boroughs such as Newham which has an ethnic population of a whopping 69.2%. With such massive diversity, surely we can expect the crime statistics for Newham to be low – but alas that is not the case. Newham is among the top 10 most dangerous boroughs in London. The overall crime rate in Newham in 2022 was 99 crimes per 1,000 people. That’s a lot of crime but hey, think of the diversity, right?
Perhaps even worse than the prevalence of criminality in some of these diverse areas is the soaring level of violent crime. If we look at London, the number of reported cases in 2015 was just over 186,000 cases. By 2022, that had rocketed to over 242,000 cases. In all cases, can we even believe the figures provided to us by the dysfunctional Metropolitan Police? Are these numbers in themselves a massive under-reporting?
Back in 2010, The Metropolitan Police did reveal some startling figures on the ethnicity of crime in London back then and the Daily Telegraph reported on it. The official figures, which examine the ethnicity of those accused of violent offences in London, suggested that a majority of men held responsible by police for gun crimes, robberies and street crimes were black men. It also showed that the group of people most at risk of such crime was also black men. Yet rather than deal with this issue, the media focused on what it called the “institutional racism” of the Police! Some may think this is a very convenient form of deflection to stop us asking hard questions about the ethnic mix in London. And of this is true of London then surely it must apply to other once great cities like Birmingham and Manchester?
Over the past few years, we have seen some US cities such as San Francisco abandon trying to stop theft in-store and now we see this beginning to happen in places like London. Again, we would be in denial if we did not accept that much of such theft is being carried out by certain ethnic minorities. So, there is a problem in plain sight but what are the factors driving it?
If you believe as I do that the family unit is the greatest bulwark against children going off the rails, it’s perhaps not surprising to discover that 57% of black Caribbean and 44% of black African families were lone parents – compared with 22% for white British families. With the father figure out of the picture, and the role model gone, might this go towards explaining the rise in a young criminal class? Many of those people who arrived in the UK in the 1960’S from places like the Caribbean held strong Christian values and placed great store in law and order. But decades of liberals telling these people that they are “victims” has undermined all of that and now we live with feral youths and the crimes they commit.
Multiculturalism may turn out to be the weapon that toppled over our modern pluralist democracies and diversity could be the single word that is printed on the gravestone of our thousands of years of Island history.
