Would the UK be wealthier without Muslims?

The UK may be looking more and more like a Muslim country with certain areas of some cities and towns now Muslim- majority. But would we become a more successful and wealthy country if we deported all Muslims, some may wonder? As always, the data tells the story,

Muslims in the UK, as per 2021 Census, make up about 6.5% of the population (roughly 3.87 million people in England and Wales). Estimates from VERY biased sources like the Muslim Council of Britain suggest they contribute over £31 billion annually to the economy, though this figure lacks detailed breakdown and peer-reviewed backing!! But that is not the full picture.

Let’s assume this contribution comes from employment, entrepreneurship, and consumer spending. Muslims are overrepresented in sectors like healthcare (around 40,000 NHS workers!) and retail, but also have much higher economic inactivity rates 38.9% in 2018, compared to the national average of around 21%. So, almost double that of the UK average. This betrays a much lower per-capita contribution to GDP than the UK average.

If this population were absent, the immediate loss of £31 billion (about 1.2% of the UK’s £2.54 trillion GDP in 2023) would hit output. However, this could be offset by reduced fiscal strain. Studies, like those from the Migration Observatory, show non-EEA migrants (a category including many UK Muslims) often have a negative net fiscal impact due to higher dependency ratios—more children, thus greater education and welfare costs. Removing this group would lower public spending on benefits, housing, and schools, potentially freeing up £10-20 billion annually . If reinvested into infrastructure or tax cuts, this could boost productivity and GDP growth over time.

Labour markets could also adjust. Muslims fill some significant roles, but their higher inactivity and lower skill levels mean replacement by a more productive workforce—say, via controlled and selective immigration policy favouring high-skilled workers—could raise GDP per capita. The NHS would face short-term shortages, but automation, AI or retraining could mitigate this.

The killer stat show that if there were no Muslims in the UK our National GDP per capita would INCREASE from £36,977 to £42,608.

How do we arrive at this?

Well, if we look at 2024 UK GDP it was £2,851bn. The UK population is 69.138m and contains an estimated Muslim population of 3.87m so GDP per capita is £36,977

If you removed Muslims the New GDP becomes £2,781bn with a reduced Population of 65,268,192. New GDP per capita = £42,608

So looking at GDP the UK would become a wealthier country if there were no Muslims in it, based on strictly economic criteria. It’s worth remembering this when you are propagandised into believing that Muslims make a great contribution to our economy.
