Some years ago, when in New York, my wife and daughter went to see the Musical Play “Wicked” on Broadway! (I found something better to do!) They enjoyed it and it seemed relatively innocuous. Here is the current Broadway cast, it all looks ok, normal
But 2024 saw the Broadway production turned into a Movie and that’s where things get strange. It is something which is obvious yet one that we must not mention. That is the staggering changes that Ariana Grande and Cynthia Erivo have undergone since starring in the much lauded “Wicked” film. Take a look at this first.
It is painful to see the extreme changes to these two women. Grande has become hideously skeletal and Ervivo looks quite frightening, even Demonic!
What has happened to them?
Have they been taking excessive Ozempic? That might explain the extraordinary weight loss they both exhibit? The more conspiratorial may wonder if the adrenochrome tap has been turned off? Something has happened for sure
In what way is this pair role models for young girls? The Wicked movie is very much aimed at the young female audience.
It follows Elphaba, a green-skinned girl with magical powers, and her unlikely friendship with Glinda during their time at Shiz University in the land of Oz. When Elphaba discovers the Wizard’s corrupt rule and fights to protect the animals of Oz, she is wrongly branded as evil, paving the way for her transformation into the infamous Wicked Witch of the West.
So witchcraft is a central theme. I don’t think that is a coincidence.
