Non-tariff barriers will also be taxed… we don’t like your seeds, we don’t like what you feed your beef… we don’t like the way you do what ever you do. All the thousands of reasons other countries in the world block our exports into their nations, especially Europe. All of those other nations Tariffs, Regulations, etc, that has been the Trade War, not what we now do to them.
The thanks we have recieved for being Europe’s protector for the past 60yrs has been nothing but abuse and disrespect. While at the same time they abandoned defending themselves. Spending those resources on socialism instead. While we rebuilt their nations and industry by giving them our industry. They laughed and took advantage of our largess.
The United States reindustrialized the rest of the world, and became it’s biggest if not only customer in the case of some nations. We did so of our own accord, we admit that freely. No matter what anyone thinks it was done to lift the living conditions of our fellow man world wide, and it worked.
We do not blame any other nation for these results, they are of our own making. The other nations did as they should have. They enriched themselves at our expense. It was the right thing for the rest of the world to do. We were not just the richest market, in a lot of cases we were the only market. A market that didn’t care and even encouraged being taken advantage of.
Those days have ended.
The U.S. is no longer the only market. The world has grown rich in a million different ways since the end of WWII. It is now time for the rest of the world to stand on their own. The rest of the world will now compete fairly. The trade balance now ends. We are still going to be nice about it. If the tariffs and regulations that you levy against us aren’t equal we will now levy half the difference against you.
If you charge us 100 and we charge you 10, as of now we will charge 50. The question is can the other nations of the world handle that increase ? The U.S. and it’s people can handle any rise in cost that any other nation can levy on us. Can the other nations handle the cost to their economies ? That is the question, and the reality that the rest of the nations have to ask themselves. The ball is in their court.
Here is President Trump explaining the new rules of how America is now going to play. We challenge the rest of you to compete, if you can.
