Did you see that Kensington Palace has released a new video from Princess Catherine updating us on the fact that she has, apparently, now finished her course of Chemotherapy.
The Princess of Wales has said her focus is to “stay cancer free” after finishing chemotherapy treatment.
She made the announcement in her most personal family video to date showing her spending private time with Prince William and her children.
The incredibly candid and intimate video shows the princess, Prince William, Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis spending time together in Norfolk with a message voiced by Kate.
What does this mean, exactly? Some might wonder why she is so actively promoting Chemotherapy? After all, there is a school of thought that suggests this is the wrong way to treat cancer given the invasive and destructive nature of the treatment. There are alternatives but how many young women will watch the Princess and conclude that this is the course for them.
In the clip, Kate says:
“As the summer comes to an end, I cannot tell you what a relief it is to have finally completed my chemotherapy treatment. The last nine months have been incredibly tough for us as a family. Life as you know it can change in an instant and we have had to find a way to navigate the stormy waters and road unknown.”
OK, so she is making it clear that she has finished her Chemo for whatever type of cancer she has. Has it worked? She says that she wants to focus on staying cancer free so does that mean the cancer identified at the start of the year is gone? She also makes it clear that she will be resting for the next few months and unlikely to be seen in public
“We’re told that she will be working from home and undertaking a few more public engagements in the coming months when she can.”
One of the strange things is that in March the Princess confirmed that pre-cancerous cells had been found following abdominal surgery and that she would have to undergo a course of preventative chemotherapy. So she didn’t actually have a cancer but rather “pre-cancerous” cells and that is what required six months of Chemo? Was it JUST Chemo that she had? Was there any radiotherapy?
It’s been a strange year with the Prince and Princess and her absence from the majority of the year suggests that something was very wrong and we can but hope things will now improve.
