Have you heard of the Faculty of Forensic & Legal Medicine (FFLM)?
No? Stick with me!
This body was was founded in 2005 by the Royal College of Physicians of London (established by King Henry VIII, no less) with its inaugural meeting taking place on 13 April 2006. It is an important body created to establish a training pathway in forensic and legal medicine and achieve specialist recognition of the specialty. It acts as an authoritative body for the purpose of consultation in matters of educational or public interest concerning forensic and legal medicine.
Got that? Now, you *might* think that when this Faculty wants a new CEO it will seek the greatest and most experienced intellect possible, preferably with detailed medical and legal experience. And THAT. dear reader, is where you are wrong.
Meet the brand new CEO – Halita Obineche.
Hailita now heads up this organisation where she focuses on maintaining high standards of competence and professional integrity in forensic and legal medicine. Her expertise includes strategic innovation, inclusive practices, multi-channel marketing, digital strategy, and creating tailored membership offers.
Yes, but what qualifies her? Well, therein lies a tail or two.
Back in 2016, she stood as a Green Party candidate in Stoke Newington so her political affiliations are clear. She then cut her teeth with The Association of Dogs and Cats Homes as Chief Executive. The ADCH is an umbrella group for dog and cat rescue centres across the UK and Ireland and has 160 members.
Prior to that, she had worked for the independent charity The Magistrates Association, where she acted as director of membership and communication for three and a half years.
So from Cats and Dogs to heading up Faculty of Forensic & Legal Medicine?
Nigerian born Halita leads a charmed life and I am sure the Royal College of Physicians knows what it is doing with this curious selection.
Then again….
The Woke virus has clearly captured this organisation and it is blissfully destroying its centuries old heritage!
