Did you see that from today the EU is imposing the rule that electronics manufactures must from fit all devices sold in the EU with USB-C charger ports in a bid by the 27-nation bloc to reduce waste and cut costs for consumers, who will no longer have to purchase separate chargers for each device they own.
To the surprise of absolutely no-one, the UK is now following this EU directive. Why?Well, you see Britain is to adopt these EU rules that ban all but a single type of mobile charger over fears of creating a new “phone border” in the Irish Sea.
Ah, a “Phone Border” in the Irish Sea, you say! Yes.
Ministers have published plans to enforce a single charger type, called USB-C, following in the footsteps of legislation passed by Brussels. The ban will come into force in Northern Ireland at the same time as the EU 27 because it has to automatically adopt swathes of EU regulation. Eurosceptics said plans to adopt it UK-wide show how the Windsor Framework is resulting in alignment with EU rules “through the back door”.
And Eurosceptics are right!
The “Irish Sea Border” is a Trojan Horse designed to integrate the UK into the EU under the pretext of protecting “peace” in Northern Ireland. It seems to me that the majority of British people are unaware of the FACT that Northern Ireland remains in the EU Single Market, is subject to the ECJ and so must adopt ALL legislation flowing from the EU. This means that because Northern Ireland is still under the control of Westminster, either the whole of the UK must also accept this legislation OR risk blowing up the “Windsor Framework”.
Since there zero chance of any UK Government doing the latter (as it would collapse the phoney Stormont Government, you will find that the UK was set up by “Conservative” Boris Johnson to eventually merge back into the EU. His “Brexit” was a mirage but one which Sir Keir Starmer will seize upon to force us closer and closer to the decaying corpse of the EU.
You might be tempted into thinking that having a single charging port is a good idea. After all, I imagine that you are like me and have loads of different chargers to fit different devices. That is beside the point. It should be for the UK and the UK alone to decide if it wants to enact such legislation and on this issue, it cannot. It simply MUST follow Brussels. This is not the first and it won’t be the last time that the UK complies with what the EU demands. We never got Brexit.
