Speaking from an ice cream parlour (nothing weird about that, right?) US President Joe Biden suggests that UK PM Liz Truss was misguided in trying to cut the top tax rate in the key from 45% to 40%. It sends the wrong signal, he hinted. Meanwhile, in the US, the top tax rate is 37%. Leaving that aside, I think there is another more sinister game afoot and it’s all about making SURE the UK does not look a more attractive tax destination than the EU.
