The way the UK media sees it, the conflict with the Mullahs in Iran is a “forever war” that will almost certainly follow the direction of the Iraq war and drag in US “boots on the ground, deepen regional instability and cause more loss of innocent life.
On every front they are hopelessly if not absurdly wrong!
Lets deal with the “Forever War” claim which they implying since Day One. We are 14 DAYS in, the Supreme Leader died on day one to be replaced with a cardboard Ayatollah. The Iranian navy is gone, the Iranian Air Force is gone, the drone and missile threat is reduced by about 90%, the IRGC and Basij terror infrastructure is being wiped out. This is fast and whilst what is left of the regime lashes out in random fury in the region, it’s clear that Trump’s initial timeline of 3-4 weeks seems extremely plausible. It is NOT a “forever war” and those in the media who mindlessly repeat this display unique ignorance.
There are no boots on the ground and there is little likelihood of any US invasion in that regard. I am sure that both the US and Israel have some special forces and intel on the ground but that is the case in many countries.
When it comes to the alleged “deepening of regional instability”, I wonder if the critics think an Iran armed with nuclear weapons could be a tad dangerous to peace in the region, given the Mullahs repeated desire to destroy Israel? Lashing out at Arab neighbours like Dubai and Saudi is designed to get them to apply pressure on Trump. That won’t work and things reached peak irony yesterday when Hamas, yes, Hamas, told the Iran regime to stop firing missiles at “Arab brothers”! This all the more remarkable when you consider that Iran funds Hamas!
I think all of my readers will agree that we don’t want to see any loss of innocent life but where were all the armchair critics when tens of thousands of Iranians – many young people -were butchered in the streets of Iran back in January? They sat on their hands and the minute Trump takes action to limit the killing they whine and bitch.
The US and Israeli forces are doing a spectacular job here and we should congratulate the accuracy and speed at which they work.
This is not a Forever War but it is an Important War that needed to happen. Trump knew this 40 years ago and now he is doing something that all the others baulked from doing. People who try to undermine him almost seem to be onside with the Mullahs, now why might that be?
