It’s a big claim and not many would be brave enough to make it. However that did not stop this lady, who has just recently moved to Ireland, insisting that black people built Ireland.

Could she be right?

Well, no, of course not, but she isn’t the only one to claim it.

There was Kenyan-born SDLP councillor, Lilian Seenoi-Barr, a previous mayor of Derry/Londonderry who was making up history by saying that black people built Ireland. Here she in traditional ..ahem..Irish dress with her family. By the way, she is also an asylum seeker who came here in 2010 “fleeing persecution” back home in Kenya. This is odd because ….erm…her family hold high political office in Kenya. Strange that!

Claiming the black people built Ireland is a thing that they do and they must know it is entirely delusional. Ireland has been 99.99% white for the past millennia and the suggestion that the country was built by black people is insane. Even in 2025, the island of Ireland has <1% black people. So no – they did not build Ireland.

But they did have an impact on Ireland.
