July 1, 2025 and Canada is 158 years young. Across the country it’s the usual fare: pancake breakfasts, the cannon salute at noon, fireworks in the evening and an opportunity for politicians to circulate on the meet and greet in their communities, take a quiet family day at the lake or a backyard BBQ.
But a growing number of Albertans are taking our Provincial Mission Statement Fortis et Liber to heart at a grassroots gathering where perhaps Canada Day isn’t mentioned; at the Whistle Stop Café at the crossroad of Highway 21 and HWY 50. Here Albertans gather to listen to speakers, including Christine Anderson of the AfD Party and Alberta Patriots of the Covid Truckers Convoy who sacrificed so much for all Canadians.
Why is it that, after 40 or 50 years, Alberta’s economy is worse off, but Alberta continues fund other Provinces through the socialist mechanism called equalization? Why are we accepting foreign migrants in numbers that appear to be much greater than what we are being told? Why are we allowing our economy to be taken down in the name of Climate Change and the Woke Globalist Agenda?
What can Albertans do differently this time as it approaches another opportunity to take control of its own wheelhouse?
One answer is to build broad public support and momentum for Separation from the grassroots level. In this regard, we have better than ever organized leadership in several distinct groups: The Alberta Prosperity Project which is gathering signatures and leading the Petition for a Referendum on Separation with the threshold 177,000 signatures. Take Back Alberta which identifies and organizes leadership talent and encourages the widespread personal engagement of ordinary Albertans – to build the foundation of broad public support for Alberta Separation.
Perhaps the biggest hurdle for Alberta independence is a smug entrenched and disrespectful political elite that is so determined that they know what is best for Albertans that they crush all other dialogue.
Those who want change, or even Separation will face vilification, slander, will be called anti-constitutional, anti-Canadian, far right, xenophobic in need of psychiatry, rural yokels, criminals, and more. Of this Alberta is warned by Christine Anderson but also comforted that the Separatist movement will build as we who see the risks of globalism are proven right as is happening in Germany as more people since 2013 see the flaws in Globalism.
If it is Divorce, then Alberta will figure it out. Maybe 120 years in a country 158 years’ old today is enough?
Alberta Fortis et Liber. And looks like Saskatchewan to the East of Alberta wants out too. Then the map of Canada will look like an NHL Hockey Players’ smile with the two big front teeth missing!
