Not so long ago, we were assured that Ukraine would never never lose Bakhmut to Russia. Yesterday, Russia announced it had liberated the city. Even Zelensky admits the defeat. Now we are told it wasn’t all that important – so why did Zelensky sacrifice 40,000 of his soldiers defending it?
