Restore Britain vs Rupert Lowe

It’s not that I dislike Rupert Lowe. In fact I like many of the things that he says. However it seems that a spat has broken out between the Restore Britain Leader and some of his more high profile associates. Let me give you the details to start with;
It came after leader Rupert Lowe was seen in an interview clip defending the King’s invitation of Muslim worshippers to Windsor. Lowe said;
‘He’s certainly very keen to propagate a multicultural society, which again I have no problem with if people integrate.’
This sparked immediate backlash, with prominent supporter and activist Connor Tomlinson blasting:
‘Multiculturalism has not worked, will never work, and was never wanted.
‘If Restore Britain amounts to nothing more than a pressure campaign, then it has served its purpose.’
Ouch. So Lowe takes the position that multiculturalism can work with full integration, and those like Tomlinson believe that it can NEVER work.
Tomlinson’s views veer towards the Ethno-nationalist corner, a charge frequently levelled against Lowe himself ! How can a Party Leader hold a view on such a touchstone issue that is diametrically opposed to his Party?
I have noticed that when Rupert Lowe is interviewed on TV he comes across rather differently to his X/Twitter persona. There’s a reason for that. A guy called Alistair Harrison is Lowe’s Chief of Staff and runs Lowe’s X account. So it’s likely that the things you read as being “Rupert’s thoughts” are actually Harrison’s thoughts. Harrison appears to exert considerable influence over Lowe, as this clip from the Makerfield by election demonstrates.
Harrison says NO and Lowe does what he is told. Odd.
Critics of Restore Britain accuse it as being little more a grievance vehicle for Lowe against Nigel Farage. I can’t be sure that is true, in fact it may be very unfair, but please consider this story
Rupert Lowe’s Restore party has vowed to throw ‘everything we have’ at ending Nigel Farage‘s Commons career if the Reform leader faces a by-election over his £5million undeclared donation. Mr Farage is awaiting the verdict of a Commons standards committee inquiry into why he failed to reveal the huge gift from a Thailand-based British crypto-currency investor. If the committee recommends a suspension of ten days or more from the Commons, he faces the prospect of a ‘recall petition’ that could trigger a by-election in his Clacton constituency. And Mr Lowe – leader of Reform – pledged to mount a fierce challenge in the Essex seaside seat where Mr Farage has a majority of 8,405 over the Tories.
I am sorry to have to say this but the visceral hatred towards Farage is unsettling and does raise questions about Lowe and Restore.
For clarity, I like the straight talking from Lowe and the lack of nuance. But if all energy is directed to attacking Farage and Reform, doesn’t that suggest that Spite may be the motivating factor at the very top?
