A black box and breathalyser in every car

If you thought that demanding photo age verification and encouraging you to forego a VPN was the end of Government intrusion into your life, you are wrong. It’s just the start. Get this…

New cars sold in Britain could follow European laws and be fitted with black box-style recorders and new equipment that enables breathalyser installations. Sir Keir Starmer’s Government argues that differences in car manufacturing between Britain and Europe will lead to higher costs being passed on to the customer.

I am sure it is just a complete coincidence that this move would more closely align Britain to rules and regulations implemented by Brussels. Labour had previously agreed the UK would align with EU plant and animal health rules as part of concessions to form a closer relationship with the bloc. This is a further move back into EU alignment,

But much worse is the Big Brother aspect of this.

Under the regulation, all new models must have equipment in place to facilitate a breathalyser installation. Event Data Recorders which can provide information on how fast a car was travelling before an accident, and Driver Drowsiness Warning (DDAW), which can alert a driver if they are becoming sleepy, are also required to be fitted into new vehicles.

The Black Box records your movements and so there is a real world track of where you go, when you go there, and this could presumably be accessed by Government. As for the breathalyser aspect, we already have laws against this. If two people are in the car, and one has been drinking and one hasn’t, how does it know which is driving?

This is another instance where the 24/7 Surveillance State is being sold to you as a good thing to which no reasonable person could object! The Government wants to track you ON-LINE and OFF-LINE, it wants full visibility of your every movement.
