UK criminalises Coca Cola!

You could get arrested in England for consuming two regular Cokes in public. I know it sounds surreal but it’s kinda true. It’s all because of a new law that came into effect at the beginning of this month. This restricts multi-buy promotions on Government designated “unhealthy foods” and it also affects soft drinks with “high sugar”content. This has big implications for how cafes and restaurants can offer refills of standard Coca-Cola.

The core idea is to reduce calorie intake from Government designated items by limiting promotional discounts and stopping unlimited refills, with a focus on products that are high in fat, salt, or sugar.

Now I fully understand that consuming high sugar products is not good for your health and that it would be much better for you that this is moderated. I don’t drink coke or any other such drinks myself. However, this has to be *your* choice and it’s completely inappropriate for government to interfere and start dictating what you can and cannot drink. If you want to have two Coca-Cola “full strength” – go ahead and do it. It’s your choice not that of an intrusive interfering Nanny state!

Listen to what this chap claims happened to him. It might be a spoof but it’s also possibly true!

The very fact we are unsure if this is fake is evidence that the UK is entirely broken. In no sane world would this obsession about what we drink be enshrined in law. But it is. Meanwhile migrants can rape at will and stroll out of prison but you can’t request a coke refill without a lecture!
