Let’s start with a question. Do you know how many Somalis live in the UK? Well, the short answer is a bit under 200,000 but broader estimates go up to around 250,000 or more.
In the 2021 Census, 176,645 people in England and Wales identified their ethnic group, national identity, or both as Somali (about 0.3% of the population). The same census recorded about 108,900 people in England and Wales who were born in Somalia, and around 111,000 Somali-born people across the whole UK once Scotland and Northern Ireland are included. Community and research estimates that include UK‑born children of Somali heritage suggest the total Somali-origin population in the UK is higher, commonly cited around 200,000–250,000 or more.
I would like to know WHY any Somalis are living in the UK and also what do they contribute to the UK. There is a lot of on-line criticism of Somalis for having an abnormally low IQ but then again that may be flawed but no-one claims that Somalia are a HIGH IQ people. Maybe that’s understandable given the violent society that they live in and how that impacts their education. Either way, why do they come to the UK? What skill sets do they uniquely possess?
None. The UK has managed to thrive despite not having ANY Somalis living in it for most of its history. And I think that is the model we should seek to impose once again. The best place for Somalis, surely, is their home nation. If, as the apologists like to pretend, Somalis are skilled people, let them use those skills building up their country. Isn’t that reasonable
Instead, we get terrible stories like this;
Thirteen men, all of Somali origin, have been convicted of the systematic sexual abuse of vulnerable girls as young as 13 in Bristol and officers are investigating claims against 49 other suspects. The victims, some of whom were in local authority care, were groomed and passed around by their abusers – often for money – and assaulted in homes, parks and a hotel. One of the girls was raped at age 13 on the same night by three different men, including a stranger, and thought her life would be in danger if she went to the police.
This is shocking but cannot surprise. Rape is common in Somalia. So when we import Somalis, we import that brutal mindset and our girls pay the price for suicidal empathy.
