Feed the world? No, feed your kids!

The most fundamental role a parent plays is keeping their children safe and ensuring that they are fed. This used to be such a given that it didn’t need to be even said out loud. But we live in an age where parental responsibility is often outsourced to the Government and THAT is a bad thing.

Take London Mayor Sadiq Khan.

Now, this is a very strange post from Sadiq Khan for several reasons.

First of all he has EIGHT siblings, seven brothers and one sister. His father came to the UK from Pakistan in the late 1960s and worked as a bus driver, driving the buses that Brits just wouldn’t drive, allegedly. He then spend the 1970’s having child after child and getting as much welfare as possible. This is often the Pakistani model – come to the UK, take a menial job (at best) and your wife stays at home as you have a large family that you can’t afford. But don’t worry, the State will pick up the bill.

Khan can’t see it but the fact that his Pakistani family “relied” on free school meals is damnation. It demonstrates that his family believed the British State that they had JUST ENTERED was there to feed them. And cloth them. And in every other way financially help them out. But the money to do all this comes from those who are more prudent and who choose to live within their own means.

It’s not that I see anything wrong with having lots of kids, but you have to be able to feed them yourself. It’s outrageous that the UK was so soft that it pandered to the likes of Khan’s family and of course it is still pandering to large migrant families as the lifting of the 2 child welfare benefit cap demonstrates. To put it mildly, this is suicidal empathy as we bankrupt the country and punish the prudent to reward the feckless.

I have two kids, both now grown up and with their own kids. My job as a parent was to ensure that they taken care of in every way – and that included being able to feed them. When this core parental responsibility is sub contracted to the State, parenthood itself is devalued.
