I like Dubai. Been there several times and loved it. I found the place to be well run, upmarket and very sunny! I stayed at a lovely hotel on the Palm Jumeirah and enjoyed the food and wine.
I have also been to Abu Dhabi and liked it too, though I much prefer Dubai. Yes, it is an Arab culture and Muslim but if you respect that, all is well.
I would go back in a heart beat!
One of the apparent curiosities emerging from this ongoing US-Israeli war with the Mad Mullahs is the onslaught that Dubai has faced from these Iranian psychopaths.
