The end for Starmer?

“Infamy infamy – they’ve all got in for me” claimed Kenneth Williams playing a paranoid Julius Caesar in the hit comedy film “Carry on Cleo” back in 1964. Fast track to 2025 not only is it beginning to look a lot like Christmas but it’s also beginning to look like a leadership challenge is coming for Labour leader Sir Keir Starmer. The adenoidal Knight feels threatened. They have it in for him!

Sir Keir Starmer “will fight any leadership challenge from Labour MPs” allies of the Prime Minister have warned! Among those touted as replacements are uber ambitious Health Secretary Wes Streeting and Home Secretary Shabana Mahmood, who is seen as a rising star in the Labour Party.

One minister said;

‘He is one of only two people alive who have won a general election for Labour. It’d be madness to run against him after 17 months.’

Wonder were his initial KS?

Yet the fact is that Labour MPs CAN see the polls and they fear for their jobs! Can you blame them? Self preservation is the politicians default mode and they can read the runes just like you and me. They know that without change many will lose their jobs. That’s the sort of unemployment that deeply concerns them.

I have assumed that Starmer would be removed AFTER next May’s Welsh and Scottish elections which will herald in a massive Labour wipe out – but it’s possible he might be levered out before that.

Who would replace him? I think Wes Streeting WANTS to be PM but in many ways he cannot move just yet. Someone else would have to put the ball in motion! Is there a stalking horse in the Augean Stable by the Thames

Sensing real danger, Starmer has reportedly told ministers that any attempted coup would destabilise Britain’s standing on the financial markets and its relationship with foreign governments. Talk about desperation!

What is driving this fear? It appears that the looming 2025 Budget is the feared trigger point. One year after the first Labour Budget the UK economy is dead in the water and more taxes and regulations will make this even worse. Starmer and Reeves are inextricably tied together so when SHE fails, so does HE!
