By most forecasts, the Green Party is poised to do very well in next week’s elections. Under Dave…sorry Zac Polanski, they appear to have had a breakthrough. But is the Green Party really Green or is it a receptacle for seething anti-semitism?
Let’s take a look under the Green bonnet, shall we?
It s a fact that allegations of antisemitism in the Green Party have mounted sharply this year, with a string of local election candidates exposed for extreme anti‑Jewish or “anti‑Zionist” rhetoric.
One of the starkest examples is Newcastle Green candidate Tina Ion, who ran an account under the alias “thereal.anne.frank” (Yes, really) and shared a post calling for the extermination of “every single Zionist.”
National Green figures later issued a statement saying they were “appalled” by the racist material and did not support her candidacy, admitting vetting failures.
Separately, the Met Police arrested two Green candidates on suspicion of inciting racial hatred over allegedly antisemitic online posts.
While they have not yet been charged, the fact that local Green hopefuls are under criminal investigation for antisemitic content underlines how far beyond legitimate criticism of Israel has shifted in the Green.
In Lambeth, candidate Saiqa Ali shared an image of Donald Trump as Uncle Sam wearing a Star of David, captioned: “I want you to die for Israel. Because I’m owned by Jews.” The Jewish Chronicle and others branded this “openly antisemitic” Despite a public outcry, the party initially confirmed she remained a candidate while it “looked into it”,
A wider pattern has also emerged.
A Jerusalem Post roundup lists multiple Green candidates accused of comments about “killing Zionists,” joking that it “takes serious effort not to be a tiny bit antisemitic,” blaming “Zionists” for 9/11, alleging Jews orchestrated attacks on Jewish ambulances, or appearing to sympathise with Hamas’s 7 October massacre. It’s a tsunami of hatred that seems central to the Greens.
Internal recordings quoted by The Times and others show deputy leader Mothin Ali telling a Greens for Palestine group that candidates accused of antisemitism should seek “serious legal advice” and even consider a class action against the party, rather than urging clear repudiation of antisemitic content.
It is perfectly obvious what is happening here. The Green Party is now the Islam Party.
Beware voting for such a monstrosity.
