US commentator Tucker Carlson has been spiralling out of control for some months now. I say that as someone who regularly listened to his daily podcast and enjoyed it. However he has recently suggested that President Trump is possibly the Anti Christ and that is a bridge too far for me! It was bad enough he was so viciously anti-Israel and pro Islam but he is now beyond belief
Last month, reacting to Trump posting AI images of himself Carlson told his audience that here was “a leader who’s mocking the gods of his ancestors, mocking the God of gods, and exalting himself above them,” then asked on air: “Could this be the Antichrist? Well, who knows?”
It was a stupid post from Trump. Here it is. He did remove it.
However, it was not portraying Trump as Jesus but rather as the tarot figure “The Magician”
Regardless, in a recent New York Times podcast interview, Carlson first denied ever saying this when the host asked if he’d suggested Trump might be the Antichrist.
“I have not said that,” he insisted, claiming he didn’t even fully understand what the Antichrist is. When she read his own words back to him and the Times released the video of the original segment, he shifted position, saying he might have been referring to what “some are asking” and that the line didn’t “reflect exactly how I feel,” even if he had said it.
Here it is.
He is exposed as a liar.
Disappointing as this is, it’s just part of his very public break with Trump over the Iran war and over what he portrays as Trump’s blasphemous “mocking” of God by casting himself as a Christ‑figure.
So: Carlson did explicitly float the Antichrist line on his show, then tried to deny it, and is now retreating to a position where he says he’s not making a definitive theological claim but does see Trump’s self‑exaltation as something Christians should treat as deeply alarming.
Mind you, when I see a Golden Statue of Trump being erected at one of his Golf Courses, I get a bit queasy although to be fair he didn’t erect it!
