In the bunker….

It must feel pretty grim in the Downing Street bunker today. There is no good news. With Thursday 7th May just a few short days away, Sir Keir must ponder the fact that EVERY poll shows his party going down to a historic defeat. It is is of Rishi Sunak proportions. Labour may lose 1800-2000 Council seats in England (btw you can see why Starmer tried to cancel those Council elections). Labour seems set to be humiliated in Wales and come third, after Plaid and Reform. Scotland offers little better with Labour going backwards.

Yet the Starmerfuhrer refuses to publicly acknowledge any of this. He insists that we won a massive majority in 2024 and that he will lead his Party into the planned 2029 general election. The problem is that he is the only one that thinks that.

The Mail reports that up to seven Cabinet ministers will unite to pressure him into quitting if this week’s local election results are as dire as expected.

The high-ranking figures will try to persuade the beleaguered Prime Minister that it would be in the party’s best interests if he agreed a timetable for his departure from Downing Street, They will urge him to set out an ‘elegant’ path to stand down in time for the party’s annual conference in the autumn, rather than clinging desperately to power in the face of public opinion.

There will be nothing “elegant” about this. Starmer is going to have be dragged kicking and screaming from Downing Street. He is a man full of his self importance and I think that he thinks he has been doing a great job. When we reach next Friday morning, that’s when reality bites.

That is when the full scale of the defeat will be obvious to all. Labour will be decimated by the British people who have grown to despise Starmer at a remarkable pace. You see I don’t think he was EVER loved, it’s just that we all hated the Conservatives. Now the scales have altered and we hate Labour with a vengeance.

I wonder what Starmer thinks when he sees all the polls? Does he believe them? Does he deny them? Or do his lieutenants keep them away from him?

You can deny reality but it will catch up with you and that is what we will all see in the next week!
