I hate the French, I’m sorry but I do. I know as an American I’m supposed to believe they were helpful in our Revolution, but I don’t. I also find their behavior offensive to my personal set of standards, in politics, work ethic, and just their general moral demeanor. I find them offensive. I speak for no one else, these beliefs are completely my own. I feel the French can’t be trusted, they have proven time after time since betraying the Templars, that they will always fall on the wrong side, the dark side. That of the coward and betrayer.
With that qualification aside let’s discus France’s current position.
They are doing it right now, once again surrendering. This time before a single shot has even been fired. Another moment in history where the French are betraying allies running from the fight. They cower on the side not to be caught up in what is coming. While trying to play the coming disaster to their benefit.
The following remarks were made by the President of France, Emmanuel Jean-Michel Frédéric Macron speaking to a Politico Journalist on his return trip from China. Let’s go over what has been said.
ABOARD COTAM UNITÉ (FRANCE’S AIR FORCE ONE) — Europe must reduce its dependency on the United States and avoid getting dragged into a confrontation between China and the U.S. over Taiwan, French President Emmanuel Macron said in an interview on his plane back from a three-day state visit to China.
So after kowtowing and colluding with the Chi-coms for 3 days, Macron believes that all of Europe should cut it’s ties with the U.S.. If all of Europe doesn’t cut it’s ties it will get “dragged into a confrontation between China and the U.S. over Taiwan,“. Well first off it’s good to know that Macron can speak for all of Europe, it was an ability I didn’t know anyone gave him. Is it just him, or is it just France that speaks for ALL of Europe? What in his 3 day visit convinced the President of France that the Chi-coms are going to invade Taiwan, and go to War with the U.S.? What was promised him if he not only stayed out of it, but interfered, and aided instead?
Speaking with POLITICO and two French journalists after spending around six hours with Chinese President Xi Jinping during his trip, Macron emphasized his pet theory of “strategic autonomy” for Europe, presumably led by France, to become a “third superpower.”
A “third superpower”, there is the U.S., Russia, and China that are the world 3 “Superpowers”, is France going to supplant one of them, or is it the fool can’t even count? France is going to lead an “strategic autonomy” for Europe. Really where are they getting the Military, the tanks, the planes, THE MONEY? Certainly not from NATO. All of NATO’s equipment and financing comes from the United State’s. This “strategic autonomy” is away from and against the U.S. at the very least its point is independence from the U.S. is it’s binding key. Does Macron believe that because President Biden abandoned all of equipment in Afghanistan that he will do the same with Europe and NATO? Who knows with President Biden he might be right, but I wouldn’t bank the safety of Europe on it.
He said “the great risk” Europe faces is that it “gets caught up in crises that are not ours, which prevents it from building its strategic autonomy,”
Crises that are not theirs. The French have already made it clear they do not want to aid Ukraine, they have given the least. They are now stating they have no interest in helping Taiwan. All they want is “strategic autonomy” for a Europe led by France.
“The paradox would be that, overcome with panic, we believe we are just America’s followers,” Macron said in the interview. “The question Europeans need to answer … is it in our interest to accelerate [a crisis] on Taiwan? No. The worse thing would be to think that we Europeans must become followers on this topic and take our cue from the U.S. agenda and a Chinese overreaction,”
So if the U.S. abides by it’s Treaties and defend Taiwan from Chinese aggression, if the Chi-com’s “overreact” and start sinking American Ships the French are of the opinion that is our problem, not theirs or Europe’s.
“Europeans cannot resolve the crisis in Ukraine; how can we credibly say on Taiwan, ‘watch out, if you do something wrong we will be there’? If you really want to increase tensions that’s the way to do it,” he said.
He admits that Europe is useless in Ukraine, laughing that France and Europe’s ineptness at being able to defend itself let alone defend anywhere else is folly. He is also saying that to even suggest they might help could upset the bad guys, God forbid the French don’t want that.
Macron also argued that Europe had increased its dependency on the U.S. for weapons and energy and must now focus on boosting European defense industries.
Yes Europe must buy French Nuclear Reactors, or Russian Oil/LNG, French Weapons, French Planes, and French Tanks. etc etc.
He also suggested Europe should reduce its dependence on the “extraterritoriality of the U.S. dollar,” a key policy objective of both Moscow and Beijing.
Macron is signaling France’s willingness to join with the Chinese to change the world reserve currency from the Dollar to the Yuan. Aiding China in it’s war on the U.S..
“If the tensions between the two superpowers heat up … we won’t have the time nor the resources to finance our strategic autonomy and we will become vassals,” he said.
He fears that when the Chi-coms invade Taiwan and crash the Dollar that France and Europe’s economies will crash if they are not backed by the Yuan instead of the Dollar.
While sitting in the stateroom of his A330 aircraft in a hoodie with the words “French Tech” emblazoned on the chest, Macron claimed to have already “won the ideological battle on strategic autonomy” for Europe.
This is a referral to to the failed EU which is struggling so poorly it is doing everything it can to undo Brexit and stay afloat. He ignored the fact of ongoing U.S. security guarantees for the Continent, which relies completely on American defense assistance. All of Europe would be overrun in 3 days as Germany overran France without the American Military in Europe and NATO. Ukraine has been decimated as Europe watches, if not for America it would be part of Russia by now.
As one of the five permanent members of the U.N. Security Council and the only nuclear power in the EU, France believes itself to be The Power, and The Leader of Europe. Makes me wonder what the Germans think about that?
No matter what delusions of grandeur Macron and France are suffering, what Macron is saying needs to be taken note of. The French have declared their allegiance to China. They are announcing for the world and especially the U.S. what side they will be on in any future conflict.
It will not be the side of the United States.

Hmmm, Thats a stupid title for the article.
Im not sure that this article is in keeping with the sensible, grounded and ‘alternative to establishment opinion’ that we enjoy from David Vance.
Expanding NATO and keeping huge numbers of American troops and military facilities in Europe is not really benefitting the average European. It is allowing the UK, Polish and Baltic governments to antagonise the Russians whilst standing behind their big American bully friend. But ofcourse the UK/EU are just vassels to the US GAE. The Ukraine war planned and prepped by the USA since the break-up of the Soviet union and execution began once it was clear that Russia would resist US control and predation.
The US arrangement with China was all fine and dandy when American oligarchs were outsourcing American manufacturing to China and reaping the rewards. However, China has not been content to remain as America’s producer of cheap plastic tat sold in Walmart and on Amazon. China is now a serious compeitor to American hegenomy in the world with the BRI, BRICs and and leadership in many areas of technology.
The Taiwan issue is a manufactured crisis by the USA GAE. America has recognised a one China policy since Nixon and endorsed by Carter & Reagan, its inevitable that Taiwan will forge closer ties with the mainland and may at some point decide to re-join China. Ofcourse this has strategic implications for America because of the extensive chip fabrication/manufacturing capacity located on the Island. But why did america allow this situation to develop in the 1st place ? I suspect its due to corporate greed. Now that shortsighted corporate greed is biting America in the ass…
Hmmm indeed. It is always so kind to start with an insult.
I Appreciate your point of view “thelikesofus”. I’ll point out a couple of things though.
1) The opinions in this article are mine Patrick Van Roy, not David Vance, I have also written with him for over 20yrs. My Tone is always one that could be called semi-establishment based. But unless you are Russian or Chinese that establishment has kept you safe for the past 70yrs.
2)The Ukraine War has been prepped and set up by the US…. ? Yes Yes we the US are the predators in Europe and always have been that’s why all of your countries have been our puppets since WWII. Nevermind that the Ukrainians and Russians have been feuding with each other for 100yrs it’s the US’s fault.
3) The American people don’t want our troops or machinery in Europe, but since no European Nation can field an Army to even defend themselves let alone their neighbors it has been a necessary Evil since the end of WWII.
4) The American people would gladly pull every troop and piece of equipment out of Europe. We are NATO. None of you even pay your share of the cost let alone the supply of muscle or hardware.
China as a technological and manufacturing beast is the creation of the US exporting our manufacturing there. It is a policy I believe was a mistake, one that we shall be paying for generations. And it is biting us in the ass.
You obviously feel Europe would be better off on it’s own, I agree. You should be responsible for your own fate, your own defense, The US should withdraw all support from NATO and Europe. They nations of Europe should have to stand on their own…. it’s a shame they can’t.
Taiwan like Europe is free to do as it wishes, but for some reason they keep resisting China maybe that’s why China must invade rather than just be welcomed in, why Taiwan is begging for weapons systems. Maybe they see the Chicoms different than you.
Either way I thank you for your comment, keep coming back. Writing like this has been a part of Mr. Vance’s group of writers for decades. I am sure you will find other articles on here that give you a perspective that you’re not used to.
Patrick
Hi Patrick, thank you for your reply and I apologise for stating that the title of your article is stupid. I assume it was just an attempt at an eye catching title – and it certainly workd on me..
I’ve read lots of your articles and found them to be informative and useful in trying to make sense of this mad world.
If you have some time please look into the expansion of NATO after the break-up of the Soviet Union and the promises made to the Gorbachev gov’t by the Bush senior administration and the deception/broken promises initiated by the Clinton administrations. Look up the NATO bombing of Serbia & Libya – they are not activities conducive of a defensive alliance. Why has Sweden and Finland joined NATO ? why now ? Finland maintained its nutrality througout all of the cold war and kept reasonably good relations with the Soviet Union. NATO should have been disbanded after the fall of the Iron curtain.
Also, the Ukraine is really just a composite country and not an ethno state as such. Please look up the various referendums and voting intentions of the ethnic Russians in the Donbass & Crimean peninsula since Ukranian independence from the Soviet Union. Please note that the Crimea was moved from Russian soviet administration to Ukranian soviet administration as recently as 1954 by Khrushchev. The Donbass region was transfered from Russian to Ukranian soviets in the 1920s.
Also, im sure you are aware of the colour revolutions initiated in the Ukraine during the early 2000s and ofcourse the infamous maidan square revolution aided by the infamous Victoria Nuland – nasty piece of work…. Look up the RAND corporation think tank policy papers on embroiling Russia in a protracted conflict in the Ukraine in order to exhaust Russia militarily & use the resulting anger and frustration amongst the Russian public to remove Putin from Power and place another American stooge in power to enable America to resume looting Russian natural resources. Its all in the docs…..
As for the American people not wanting to subsidise NATO and the Europeans……. I don’t think you have a choice in the matter – do you ? Look at the annual budget for the American military – its getting close to a Trillion dollars per annum….. ! Its obscene !! That money could definitely be put to better use in America. There are quite a few cities in America that are starting to resemble cities from the 3rd world in terms of disfunction. The dep state/MIC has initiated 3 major conflicts (Iraq, Afghanistan, Ukraine) and two minor conflicts (Libya, Syria) since the start of the century with absolutely no push back from the American people. As Julian Assange states, the wars are mechanisms for harveting vast sums of tax payers’ money into the MIC and then diverting a portion of that money back into the various political interests associated with the schemes. The deep state in America has done an excellent job of brainwashing its citizens and the citizens of the UK and other European vassals. When I look at American news media (and its the same for the UK) I am dumbfounded by just how biased and misleading the coverage is, leaving the average citizen with little to no knowledge of the facts realting to big issues..
examples: Saint George Floyd. Covid. Vaccines. 2019 US election. Jan 6 protest incursion into the Captial, Ukraine, funding the Ukraine war, Taiwan.Afghanistan, Iraq, Syria, Venezuela
As far as Taiwan is concerned do a little reasearch into the political parties in Taiwan – I think you may be surprised with what you discover. Its not as anti-china as you are lead to believe by watching American news media.
BTW, I am not anti-American. I worked in America (Chicago) for a couple of years at the end of the 90s – the absolute best years of my life. I had the option to stay but decided to come back because my Dad was ill and getting frail. Americans are great people, I love them. But unfortunately, your government is the cause of much death and destruction in the world ably supported by the UK govt.
All the best.
no problem Likesofus, I do try to get attention with my headline. Not clickbait but click here damn it… is what I try to provoke.
Let me give you my opinion on the topics you bring up.
When the Soviet Union fell the US and the rest of the world missed a major opportunity to bring Russia into the fold of the West. Instead we turned our backs on it and let it go from the Soviet Union into the Putin Thugacracy.
I honestly believe Russia could have been turned into a major ally for the US. Instead they were shunned and allowed to wallow in their loss which has evolved into this….
A large part of that and the stance of the Democrat Party here in the states is that the Democrats believed the Soviet System was Superior and the only reason it fell is because our Dems and the Board that makes up the EU weren’t the ones running it.
I honestly believe that’s why the Dems still blame everything on Russia they are punishing them for failing.
As for the Ukraine I don’t know all the details of the region. I do know that in spite of their 100 year feud they had a working relationship with Russia until Nuland and John McCain helped over throw it. Crimea belongs to Russia it has always been one of it’s main Navel Shipyards I would have done the same there if I was Russia.
As for now this is entirely a Biden screwup that may actually lead to nuclear war. It makes no logical sense to me.
I agree the News on both sides of the pond is government propaganda, people like you, me David and about 10% of the worlds population dig into information. 90% take it at face value and accept what is fed to them.
“But unfortunately, your government is the cause of much death and destruction in the world ably supported by the UK govt.”
I pose this to you. The US/UK stewardship of things has been messy at times. I ask a simple question.
Do you believe the world be less messy or more so under the Stewardship of a China/Russia stewardship?
Please keep commenting, and remember as far as I’m concerned I will have a good conversation with anyone. I enjoy a discussion where positions and policies are debated by people of different points of view, and I thank you for this one.
I’m getting the feeling you’re not keen on the French Patrick…….🤣 ❤️
I’m so fortunate to have found David Vance whom I find agrees with free speech/opinions. Counterattacks are not often something I see here thankfully.
I have enjoyed reading the main article as much as I have enjoyed reading the replies.
Thank you both your knowledge/opinions/writings/debate that you both have shared with us. 🙏
With out Free Speech and Open Debate we are slaves.
