I was walking through a little local village last week and saw that the GP surgery had a big sign in their window advertising “Covid and Flu vaccines NOW available”. How quaint, I thought, and moved on swiftly! Imagine being persuaded that you needed to take either of these in 2026! Or ever. That’s despite the media serenading us with the news that bang on cue, a new Covid variant called “Stratus” was rapidly filling up NHS hospitals. Yeah. right.
However, all of this hysteria pales into insignificance with the equally ludicrous claim now being pushed that the Black Death aka bubonic plague is looming just around the corner. This is from The Times…
There are fears a second person has been killed by the “black death plague” in Russia. Local media allegedly reported the death before the articles were taken down as the Kremlin urges the public to trust “official statements” only.
Now I don’t know about you but I don’t trust official statements from the Kremlin OR Western media. I am well balanced like that!
As far as I can understand, a Lab worker called Darya Shiplova, who worked at a Plague Research institute in Siberia, died last week with the authorities there claiming plague was NOT confirmed in her or her contacts. The cause of death seems to be “pneumonia of unknown origin” Some local reports initially claimed that she caught pneumonic plague from a broken test tube but that has been categorically denied. Could it happen? I guess so since these are lethal pathogens she was working with and it’s possible that she was infected. Most certainly there has been a global response to the “plague” angle with President Trump even piling in ….
Apparently Tel Aviv University has developed an MRNA Plague Vaccine. Here is a short discussion on this issue.
I will also be giving any such MRNA “Plague vaccine” a skip! It strikes me as odd that you would develop a vaccine against a bacterial infection with an incredibly low spread rate. Existing antibiotics can deal with such infections although it is fair to say that without treatment, bubonic plague has been highly lethal.
The primary driver in the spread of bubonic plague has been FLEAS! Yes, fleas. They fed on the rats and then they bit people. It is that simple. The Black Death that appeared in 1347 as the deadliest single outbreak of the bacterial infection and it wiped out vast numbers of people – they reckon between 30-50% of the European population. You can understand from our collective folk memory why we might still be fearful of the bacterium that causes it but we have come a long way and treatments like Doxycycline will sort it out. So screaming media headlines and comments by Trump don’t really help anybody.
