Let’s start at the beginning. More than 50 years ago, America’s Apollo missions made history when the first people set foot on the lunar surface. With six landings in total, it felt like the Moon had been well and truly ticked off the space to-do list.
I can still remember watching Apollo 11 landing on the moon despite being still at Primary School. It was undeniably a moment. However I also believe it was undeniably staged.
What makes me say this, you ask? Try this…..
Yes, nothing at all weird about Nixon putting a call through to the Moon, right?
There are many other questions I have such as HOW did they pass through the Van Allen Belts in a spacecraft lined with basically bacofoil? Curious how that dangerous radiation didn’t even cause them indigestion! Then there is the fact that Buzz Aldrin flat out said that they did’t go.
In just a few days Nasa is planning to launch the Artemis II mission, sending four astronauts on their way to the Moon. Now they won’t be landing on the lunar surface, oh no, that is still a bit too tricky for us in 2026 although it was a breeze in ‘69.
This voyage around our nearest neighbour will pave the way for a lunar landing and, eventually, a Moon base. Nasa’s Artemis programme has taken years of work, involved thousands of people and is estimated to have cost $93bn to date.
I wonder will this be any more plausible than first time ‘round?
