President Trump has played an absolute blinder in the Middle East and confounded his critics on the right and on the left! As I said here last week, trust Trump – and whilst a few *think* I meant unthinking loyalty (I didn’t ever say that) I DID suggest that his judgement is pretty good and I did not think he was dragging the US into a forever war. Those such as Tucker Carlson and Steve Bannon vocally suggested otherwise and now we all see they called it wrong. Trump has now called an END to the “12 Day War” and Israel and Iran are now in a sort of of a Trumpian checkmate.
This is a balanced comment from Trump and it should reassure us that his intention was simply to defang demented Iranian nuclear ambitions. Mission accomplished. However there was a twist as Israel launched bombs on Iran AFTER the ceasefire deal had been called and subsequently received stark warning this from Trump.
And here he is being interviewed en route to the G7 jamboree. Spicy language, perhaps, but absolutely on the target.
I have confidence that Trump will restore a degree of peace here whilst having achieved his main aim which WAS NOT “Regime change”. I suggest that ONLY Trump is strong enough to do this and I am so grateful he is the guy in the White House.
