Yes, you read me right. Since coming to power, it has been obvious that Sir Keir Starmer’s regime thinks the main issue is how *quickly* we can process asylum claims. This is in contrast to most people who think the main issue is STOPPING the vast numbers of “asylum seekers” and deporting all illegal migrants.
I think that explains this!
The government is planning an overhaul of the asylum appeals system as it tries to cut the number of migrants staying in hotels while they await a ruling. Home Secretary Yvette Cooper said she was taking practical steps to end unacceptable delays, with a new body, staffed by independent adjudicators, to be established. The government has been under increasing pressure to reduce its reliance on asylum hotels, In response, the Refugee Council told BBC the best way of “getting fewer appeals is getting decisions right first time”.
What they mean is settling as many illegal migrants as quickly as possible via a fast tracked asylum claims system.
The success rate for asylum cases ends up around 75%. So the Government simply seeks to accelerate that rate and allow more of them to stay here. This will do nothing to stop the core problem but it does everything to reduce the numbers waiting on the green light! So they will reduce the numbers in Hotels by fast tracking them to get legal status!
