I was delighted to see that the United States has detained and will shortly deport Sami Hamdi. Hamdi is a “British” based political commentator known for his venomous criticism of Israel and support for radical Palestinian causes. Hamdi, who was in the U.S. on a speaking tour, met up with ICE at San Francisco Airport after his visa was revoked by the Department of Homeland Security.
Hamdi is exactly the sort of person who should be kicked out of the US!
U.S. officials have said that his removal is linked to a claims that he praised the October 7, Hamas attacks on Israel and urged public “celebration” of the event, though Hamdi has denied endorsing violence.
I don’t think there is any doubt about his guilt.
In speeches at a London mosque (where else?) shortly after the attacks, Hamdi reportedly declared, “Celebrate the victory,” and asked his audience how many “felt the euphoria” upon hearing about the events.
He told congregants,
“We are pitying a people who brought a huge victory since 1948… Don’t pity them, they don’t want your pity. Celebrate the victory.”
He also stated,
“How many of you felt it in your hearts when you got the news? How many of you felt the euphoria? Allahu Akbari!”.
I had a look into his back story.
Hamdi was born here in the UK in 1990. His father. Mohamed Hechmi Hamdi arrived here in the late 1980s to “pursue his education”. He completed a master’s degree in Arab literature and history at the University of London, which he finished in 1990, the very same year Sami was born.
What a coincidence.
The UK may not be able to deport but getting him the hell out of the US with those views is both desirable and pressing!
Of course this action is not just restricted to obnoxious people like Hamdi but rather comes as part of a wider Trump administration crackdown. It is now targeting foreign nationals who are accused of supporting terrorism and/or posing a risk to U.S. national security.
True to form, the pro Islam UK Foreign Office has confirmed it is in contact with Hamdi’s family and U.S. authorities regarding his detention. I am sure they will lay on a red carpet welcome for his return to the UK and I’m sure the BBC will hanker after his every word.
Hate Preachers have no place in the US or the UK and at least the US is doing something about it.
