I see that a new Ipsos poll has revealed that British national pride has cratered to just 46%—a 10-point plunge since 2020! This isn’t just the usual discontent but rather evidence of a deep erosion of collective identity.
And if you are awake, you will know this to be true.
You feel it.
Among the young demographic (16-24), pride in our country has nosedived from 47% to 29%, while a yearning for the past has surged: 48% now yearn for a “way it used to be,” up from 28%, even among Gen Z where it doubled to a third! They think things have gotten worse and they are right.
80% of people see the UK as divided—up 10 points in five years—with “culture wars” identified by 70% as the ground zero of all this division, a sharp rise from 46%.
On the issue of tensions between immigrants and native Brits, we also see massive change. 86% of people sense tension up from 74%. Almost half of people think cultural shifts are going “too fast” This sentiment is across race demographics: white Britons from 35% to 52%, ethnic minorities a steadier but rising 35%. So this is not a RACE thing, it is a culture thing! Calling us “racist” for pointing out issues that some minorities are also concerned about doesn’t work anymore. However, as you can see, the parties on the Left aren’t that bother. Why would they be? They seek to destroy what we have.
Trans rights are another fault line with 39% of people now believing they’ve “gone too far” (doubled since 2020).
Above all of this division is the Labour Government. They aren’t that concerned about these culture war issues for a good reason – they are driving them.
