Nigel Farage – Return to the frontline?

Did you see that former UKIP and Brexit Party Nigel Farage has suggested that there will be a ‘very big decision’ coming from him on returning to frontline politics ‘in the next few weeks’.

The Brexit champion insisted he is on the verge of making up his mind about a comeback, with potentially just months until a general election.

He is very vague about his intentions however he has explicitly ruled out joining THIS Conservative Party.

“I’ve got no intentions of joining this Conservative Party at this moment in time. I’ve absolutely no idea what they stand for on any issue at all, nor do they.

‘It’s very sweet of Liz Truss to say that, but I won’t be joining the Conservative Party.’

He goes on to observe that…

I notice that Reform is getting stronger and stronger and stronger,’

Could he be considering a return to a frontline position with Reform? He already is Honorary President of Reform but I suppose he could take on a more active role? He has consistently shown a lack of interest

Farage is smart enough to understand just how contrived the British electoral system has become.

‘The hard thing of course is if you take on the established parties in the British political system you’ve got to overcome the first past the post voting system. Not easy.”

He is right. The UK electoral system is all about protecting the”two party hegemony” and the only way this could change is if we brought in PR to replace First past the Post. And I cannot see that happening anytime soon.

I suspect Farage will continue to tease of a frontline return whilst maintaining his media role and lucrative revenue flows.
