Nick Fuentes, Piers Morgan, and Hitler!

Wonder if you saw the interview of Nick Fuentes carried out by Piers Morgan? It was very fiery!

Fuentes praised aspects of Hitler, describing his uniforms, parades, and edits as “cool” and refusing to pretend otherwise. Fuentes affirmed the Holocaust’s 6 million Jewish deaths under pressure.

Morgan condemned Fuentes’ Hitler admiration as contemptible, quoted his past misogynistic and antisemitic remarks. He emphasised Fuentes’ lack of humanity on the Holocaust, slavery, and women, pushing for retractions and highlighting harm in his rhetoric. Morgan viewed Fuentes’ views as hateful and unpersuasive.

The interview quickly devolved into mutual exasperation, with Fuentes accusing Morgan of malice and low blows.

Here’s a small clip of it…

Now then, what to make of this?

The first thing that struck me was the obvious generational divide between these two. Piers Morgan is 60, Nick Fuentes is 27. It’s a boomer vs a zoomer. This manifest itself in terms of their language and attitude. I can admire both. I am older than Morgan and my attitudes are closer to his, up to a point. But I like the way young people argue and I have to remember when I was young I spoke differently than I do in later life.

On the specifics of Hitler, the fact of the matter is that he led his country to annihilation. Germany was left in ruins and millions of Germans were dead. He did preside over the horrors of the Holocaust and whilst we can all argue some of the details, the historical evidence is pretty clear. Hitler was a monster.

Fuentes may like the fashion tastes of the Nazis and the symmetry of the rallies but I am not sure that is the core element of Hitler’s ideology!

I don’t know what to make of Fuentes. Does he genuinely believe the things that he say? Some suggest that he is a Fed asset. On Jan 6th 2012, he was present in Washington DC. Fuentes used a bullhorn to shout: “Keep moving towards the Capitol – it appears we are taking the Capitol back! Break down the barriers and disregard the police. The Capitol belongs to us!”

He encouraged rioters with phrases like “We are witnessing… the beginning of a second American revolution,” celebrated breaching the building, and demanded crowds stay until Trump was “inaugurated”

I wonder if he is a deliberate plant? Is he there to be a Pied Piper to the right?

When I look up the meaning of “cool” I am told that it means that something is great, stylish, acceptable, or trendy, and it’s also used as an expression of approval and agreement. Of the many words we can use to describe Hitler, cool isn’t one of them.
