I just wanted to take a few minutes to say a few things about this Substack. It is called the David Vance Substack because I produce about 99% of the content on it, under my name, in my words. However on occasion, I publish content from guest authors and this is clearly labelled. I do this for three reasons;

I like the guest authors and am happy to share their thoughts with you.

It provides opinions that may be very different to mine but I believe passionately in exposing my readers to different thoughts.

We can all learn from those who are aligned with us in most areas but who come from different backgrounds and different life experiences. Plurality matters.
I am not asking anyone to agree with a word that is published here. That’s up to you. You can comment as you wish, I only remove obscene comments. But before you berate ME for the opinions of OTHERS, take a moment to get your facts right.
As you know, I am more semi-detached from Substack these days given the daily stripping away of followers which demotivates me. In 2026, I have not gained ONE net new follower here. In fact I am going backwards and for that – f*ck you Substack. Compare this to my X where I say the same stuff but have gained 21,000 new followers in the same time and you sense my frustration!
I still produce daily content here and hope you like it but I get irritated by those who read dissenting opinion FROM GUESTS and then flounce off the site. I am committed to allowing interesting views here, not all mine. I invite anyone who would like to write guest content to consider it.
Despite the deprivations of the Substack algorithm I enjoy all of you, dear readers!
