Recently, I was attacked here on Substack for suggesting that Nigel Farage had thrown Rupert Lowe out of Reform. I wasn’t really making a judgment on this, some may think it was deserved, others may not! But yesterday, Nigel held a very glitzy media event and explained that he had indeed gotten rid of Rupert Lowe. This is unambiguous.
Farage did not like Lowe’s robust views on immigration and he made it clear that HE got rid of Lowe “as fast as possible” on this issue.
I watched some of the “Reform’s Got Talent’” show and three things struck me;
-
It was very professional and a bit theatrical. Calling it a “Shadow Cabinet” was a stretch though!
-
It did look like Conseratives 2.0.
-
There is bad blood between Farage and Lowe and he would have done better not to disparage Lowe
I have no idea where there this one will go but I am not the ONLY commentator to have noticed that Lowe does seem to have spooked Farage.
I’m not that bothered because I think the best ideas will gain traction whether they be Reform, Restore or even Advance! That’s how it should be – NO party has a monopoly on virtue.
The only thing I can guarantee is that we will have lots of fun discussing them!
