Does the EU face “Civilisational Erasure’?

It was SUCH a joy to see President Trump’s latest National Security Strategy unveiled, without so much as a whisper to allies! It brands Europe as a crumbling bastion of “woke” excess and unchecked migration. This is exactly on the money – which is why it has stung the Euro elite so much as they fume at Trump pointing out that the Euro Emperor has no clothes.

The 33-page manifesto, signed by Trump, warns of “civilisational erasure” on the continent, driven by censorship, liberal leaders, and mass immigration. This could render Europe “unrecognisable in 20 years or less.”

Sounds about right to me. 20 years might be too optimistic though!

Trump hailed it as “a roadmap to ensure that America remains the greatest and most successful nation in human history.”

In Brussels, it’s being seen as a declaration of divorce from the post-World War II alliance. And about time too,

The NSS pulls no punches, accusing the EU of economic decline overshadowed by cultural suicide. It lambasts “woke policies” for stifling free speech and sovereignty,. It suggests that mass migration is an “invasion” destroying nations. As Trump put it;

“You’re destroying your countries. They’re being destroyed. Europe is in serious trouble. They’ve been invaded by a force of illegal aliens like nobody’s ever seen before,”

Vice President JD Vance said something very similar back in February at the Munich Security Conference when he declared Europe’s biggest threat lurks “from within.”

The strategy even wonders whether immigration will turn some NATO members into “majority non-European” states, undermining U.S. alliances. There is no mention of Russia as a threat. Instead, it blames the EU for prolonging Ukraine’s war through “unrealistic expectations” and calls for an “expeditious cessation of hostilities” to cozy up to Moscow and stabilize economies.

Trump has praised Europe’s populist leaders. He’s called Hungary’s Viktor Orbán a “great leader” and hosted a senior Alternative for Germany lawmaker at the White House in September. The NSS urges a “revival of spirit” among “patriotic European parties” resisting the EU’s “current trajectory.”

Orbán, fresh off criticizing EU Ukraine aid, quipped:

“Those who have power, act; those who don’t only speak”

This is why strong players like Russia and the United States negotiate and make deals, while weak hapless self obsessed Europe is left out, tiffi

European Council President António Costa fired back:

“What we cannot accept is the threat to interfere in European politics. The United States cannot replace Europe in what its vision is of freedom of expression.”

German MP Norbert Röttgen warned:

“For the first time since the end of the Second World War, the USA is no longer standing by the Europeans. If this strategy were to succeed, the EU would no longer exist.”

Good. I want the EU to no longer exist!

Tensions between the US and EU boiled over when the EU slapped Elon Musk’s X with a €120 million fine for Digital Services Act breaches. Secretary of State Marco Rubio responded :

“The European Commission’s $140 million fine isn’t just an attack on it’s an attack on all American tech platforms and the American people.”

Trump himself has now spoken on the issue and the EU should be very worried.

Musk, unfazed, called for abolishing the EU to restore national sovereignty

Let’s remember Europe is very reliant on U.S. military muscle. This new rift risks unraveling NATO and further igniting a populist surge. This is not good for the EU which in my estimation has been a menace in plain sight. I hope the US can crush it.
