The UK is still a Christian country. I am writing this as I hear Church Bells peel from the little Church across the street. I like to hear that sound. It’s been ringing since 1870 and I hope it continues for another 100 years. When I hear apologists for Islam insist that their call to prayer – the Adhan – is just the same and deserves equal tolerance I say NO! It is alien to our country and whilst I tolerate other faiths, I believe it has NO place in the public square.
Just think about this. The Adhan, is performed five times a day.
These five calls correspond to the five obligatory daily prayers in Islam:
-
Fajr – Dawn prayer, before sunrise
-
Dhuhr – Midday prayer, after the sun passes its zenith
-
Asr – Afternoon prayer, before sunset
-
Maghrib – Evening prayer, immediately after sunset
-
Isha – Night prayer, after twilight has disappeared
Nothing wrong with that. In a Muslim nation.
But we’re not that.
I have been in Arab nations and heard the Adlan and that is how it should be. I didn’t ever hear Christian bells peel in their lands – there are no Christian public churches.
It’s time for a muscular assertion of our traditional Christian values. Contrary to the spineless eunuchs who head up the Anglican Church in the UK, we celebrate being Christian soldiers and we don’t seek compromise.
Ban the Adlan, raise the colours of the Cross. We need a new Crusade.
