We all enjoy a good laugh but over the last 20 years it has become apparent that the regime comedians omnipresent on BBC share one key characteristic – they just aren’t very funny! I thought I might least the top 5 unfunny comedians for your amusement!

Sir Lenny Henry. The last time he was knowingly funny was in the early 1980’s on Three of a Kind alongside Tracy Ullmann and David Copperfield. That was his peak. Henry co‑founded Comic Relief in 1985 and has been one of its main TV hosts ever since, making him a central figure in British charity broadcasting and live telethons. The problem is that Comic Relief was a comedy free zone. Henry is an activist for reparations and diversity.
Rosie Jones. Roșie îs best know for her very slow delivery, not her fault but a consequence of her cerebral palsy. A major strand of her work is disability and LGBTQ+ advocacy. The problem with Rosie is that the delivery is just too slow and the jokes don’t work. She isn’t remotely amusing.
Nish Kumar. Nish is a particularly unfunny and odious “comedian” who has railed against Brexit, Nigel Farage and the centre right. Basically his routine is to sneer at the things of which the BBC disproves.
Jo Brand. The obnoxious Jo Brand has been around a long time but it was in In 2019, that drew criticism for “a joke” on BBC Radio 4’s Heresy about throwing battery acid rather than milkshakes at Nigel Farage. She said it was a joke and not a real call to violence, and the BBC defended her. But of course.
Dawn French. Now she is a big different because I have actually been to see her on stage as part of a double act with Jennifer Saunders and she was great. She was also pleasant in the Vicar of Dibley. But in recent years she has become a gargoyle mocking Jews and not funny anymore.
