Abandoning Britain

If I were young again, and had no family commitments, I would seriously think about leaving the UK and starting a new life somewhere better, like the USA. Such an attitude is one some of you may share and it may help go someway to explaining this news!

Net migration to the UK last year was 20% lower than previously thought, according to revised figures from the Office for National Statistics. The number, the difference between those entering and leaving the country, has been revised down by 86,000 people and now stands at 345,000 in 2024. The driving factor behind the change is that more British nationals are thought to have emigrated in 2024 than initially recorded, with 100,000 fewer now thought to be living in the UK.

Got that – the ONLY reason the net migration number is lower than we thought it was is because many more Brits decided to up sticks and get out while they still can. The migrants still pour in but the Brits pour out. Can you blame them? Who wants to stay here for another four years of hard Labour?

Of course the fact that 100,000 fewer Brits are now here should concern us all. It means we are losing many of our best and they are being replaced by on the make migrants and all in such a short while.

I don’t like talking down my country but there is a sense of decay about the UK.

It’s a moral malaise, it’s even physical and its definitely political.

It’s real and I sense we have a limited time left to fix it.
