I have said it before and I will say it again – if everything is a conspiracy then nothing is real and we cannot indulge in such a world view. Yes, of course I know that we should challenge the official narrative, check and then verify what we are told. The Covid years taught us that and I think it’s good to question!
That said, one of the relentless tropes that I find wearisome is to blame it all on the Jews. With the anniversary of 7th October tomorrow, I am astounded by those who claim that you can’t really blame Hamas for what happened; that Israel itself was complicit in the slaughter of of its people; and that anyone who supports Israel has been take in fiendish zionist propaganda and is an apologist for a genocidal regime. Well, sod that and those who parrot it imagining themselves to be virtuous,
Let me make it clear. Israel is not perfect and various Israeli Governments can be rightly criticised on policy. However that’s true of pretty much every Government! Surrounded by enemies in that region and the genocidal Hamas regime, I support its stated aim tocrush this terrorism. Gazans should think twice before supporting Hamas terrorism, but I doubt they will. I am NOT brainwashed and I am not on the Mossad pay roll! I am simply someone who can see that Israel has a perfect right to defend itself in that region.
The other idea that Israel somehow “controls” other Governments is laughable. Look at the hostility that the British, French, EU and WHO shows toward Israel. I think rather disproves this theory. It’s the US-Israel link that seems to unhinge some people but why shouldn’t a well organised Jewish diaspora take advantage of historical relations? After all, Ireland has done exactly the same thing.
Finally, there is something morally obscene about labelling Israel as a “genocidal” regime when it itself came into being as a modern state as a direct consequence of a genocide against it!
On October 7th, I stand with Israel. Never forget what was done on that infamous day.
