Erika Kirk, Charlies widow, is a remarkable young lady. To have witnessed the public execution of her husband whilst sitting with her two very young kids is a horror none of us can imagine.
To then have to DEAL with the consequences of it is beyond words. Charlie came home yesterday and the terrible reality of what happened was all too clear. Erika is 36 years old, that’s about the same age as my son. Just as life was looking so good – she and Charlie had just had two kids, a boy and a girl, Charlie’s political star was ascendent, and then – his life is wiped out. Just like that.
Where do you find the courage to deal with this? Erika did. You should really watch this video in full as it is heartbreaking AND defiant. She speaks beside the empty chair of her husband. I defy anyone to watch this and NOT have a dry eye in their head.
Such strength, such faith, such defiance.
I found this incredibly moving. I hope you do. She speaks to our common humanity, out decency. She also speaks with the same spirit that Charlie had. He refused to be quiet and back down. He stepped up and they killed him for it.
Now Erika Kirk has stepped up in ways that almost defy expectation. This is a lioness who mourns the loss of her soul mate but who also will ensure his mission continues.
We should all stand with Erika.
