Why are some doctors so greedy?

I am not remotely surprised to read that public support for strikes by junior doctors has collapsed, with barely one in four voters now backing their campaign of industrial action, according to the latest polling, which reveals the deepening unpopularity of further NHS strikes. You can understand why.

Previously strong approval by voters for strikes by junior doctors has halved from 52% a year ago to just 26%. I can’t believe that ANY voters supported these rapacious medics in the first place given how well paid they were even before getting the massive 22% salary uplift from Labour soon after it took power in July 2024 but they now want another 29% on top of that to restore the real-terms value of their pay to what it was in 2008.

Before Labour won the General Election last year, the average junior doctor earned around £44,500 annually, including basic pay plus additional payments for unsocial hours and overtime. Higher Training Grades Basic pay ranged from £55,328 to £63,162, with total earnings often exceeding £70,000 when including extras.

These doctors then got a 22% salary hike and want a further 29% on top of that.

They should be denied them.

We cannot be held hostage to these medical extortionists.

I get sick reading their opportunistic and blackmailing greed.
