What should we call a Communist supermarket?

Of the many insane policies put forward by likely New York Mayor Zohran Mamdani, this one takes the biscuit -and maybe the loaf too! He has promised to introduce “City Owned” grocery stores across New York! Listen to his wild explanation!

I hate to be the one to break it to Zohran and all those woke young New Yorkers who think this is a good idea, but it isn’t. It’s been tried before and was a catastrophic failure.

Yo see the Soviet Union operated “state owned supermarkets” and the consequence was horrendous shortages and exorbitant surpluses. By removing the profit motive, you remove the dynamo that drives our modern efficient just in time supermarkets. Furthermore, if Zohran wants to actually find goods to stock his supermarkets, he will find that they have to pay full dollar for the produce. The supply chain is one that has profit already built into it so all that will happen here is that all these city owned stores will turn a loss. Radical socialists always struggle with this simple truth. They buy at a loss and sell at a loss! This is the socialist nirvana but any sane person reading this can see where it leads.

Bankruptcy.
