UK to recognise Narnia!

It was all SO very predictable. Given the mounting enthusiasm amongst his rabidly pro Palestinian backbenchers for the UK Government to recognise “Palestine’, Sir Keir Starmer HAD to do something to relieve the pressure on him. And now we see that…

UK PM Keir Starmer has declared that the UK will recognise a Palestinian state at a UN meeting in September unless Israel meets certain conditions. He said the recognition will happen unless the Israeli government takes “substantive steps to end the appalling situation in Gaza”, including a ceasefire and a commitment to a long-term peace process.

Unsurprisingly, Israeli PM Netanyahu responded unambiguously;

“Starmer rewards Hamas’s monstrous terrorism and punishes its victims. A jihadist state on Israel’s border TODAY will threaten Britain TOMORROW. Appeasement towards jihadist terrorists always fails. It will fail you too. It will not happen.”

Let’s ALL understand that Starmer is simply mirroring what French President Macron has already said and I suspect the entire EU will follow. The Euro elite despise Israel and if they were honest about it, they would admit that they support Hamas. They also have growing Muslim populations and seek to appease them.

The problem with all of this is that for a “State” to be formally recognised it generally needs to meet four key criteria;

  • a permanent population,

  • a defined territory,

  • a stable government,

  • and the ability to enter into relations with other states.

Palestine does meet any of these. It does not exist as a recognisable geographical political entity so to ‘recognise” it is an act of unspeakable hubris, vanity and arrogance. And there is one other factor – how will the Trump regime respond? It has already made clear it’s displeasure at the French decision..

US Secretary of State Marco Rubio blasted French President Emmanuel Macron decision to recognise a Palestinian state as “reckless”

Starmer is seemingly prepared to endure this and more so long as he can placate the growing revolt in his cabinet and on his back benches.

You see, Starmer sees this as all about him and preserving his tatty career. Sacrificing Israel to Hamas is a small price for him.
