The Manchester Airport Brawl exposes our broken justice system

I am sure that you may have seen that the two brothers from Rochdale accused of assaulting an armed police officer at Manchester Airport have been cleared of the charge after prosecutors announced they will not pursue a third trial.

Mohammed Fahir Amaaz, 21, and Muhammad Amaad, 26, (local lads) will not face a retrial following two separate juries at Liverpool Crown Court that failed to reach verdicts on the charge of assaulting PC Zachary Marsden. In a decision announced on Thursday, the Crown Prosecution Service confirmed it would take no further action, recording a not-guilty verdict for both men.

What makes this so REMARKABLE is that the assault on the Police Officers is on video. Watch.

Could it be any more obvious? If you or I did that, do you think we would walk away with our reputations intact?

This violent confrontation erupted back in July 2024, in the Terminal 2 car park at Manchester Airport. Police officers had approached the brothers following a prior incident at a nearby Starbucks. The video of it went viral on social media.

Prosecutor Paul Greaney KC has explained the CPS’s reasoning, noting that the law creates a “presumption and expectation against third trials” unless “exceptional circumstances” exist. While acknowledging the case attracted significant public attention, the CPS determined it did not meet the threshold of “extreme gravity” required to justify a third trial. The decision was made at the highest level of the prosecution service. I am sure Keir will be happy,

Amaad walked free from court immediately after the verdict. Amaaz, however, remains in custody having already been convicted at the first trial of assaulting two female officers—PC Lydia Ward and PC Ellie Cook—and a Starbucks customer. He is scheduled to be sentenced on June 26, 2026.

Even more remarkably, I see that the Independent Office for Police Conduct is still investigating the use of force by Greater Manchester Police officers during the arrests. Yes – the Police themselves are under investigation as the culprits walk free

The REAL problem here is the fact that two consecutive juries, in Liverpool, could not agree to convict these men. Now why might that be? Is it at all possible that a certain demographic on certain juries will NOT convict their kin? Does the Ummah trump the rule of law?

Jury trial cannot function if certain members of a jury will not convict those with whom they feel an ideological or religious connection. It reminds me a bit of the O.J. Simpson trial back in the mid-1990’s. Justice has to be blind otherwise it stops functioning and that is now obvious in English Courts.
